4th EU Motor Insurance Directive

Fleet Managers and insurers face fines if they do not comply with the rules of the 4th EU Motor Insurance Directive, which requires that insurers of all vehicles are identifiable via a central database.

Masterlease offers a service to remove the administrative issues surrounding the population and maintenance of this database.

By working with a specialist third party supplier, a solution is available that allows data to be delivered directly to customers’ insurers, brokers or agents, or, if required, to customers themselves. In addition, a key benefit is that the solution need not be restricted only to Masterlease supplied or managed vehicles.

The vehicle data provided includes Masterlease supplied Short Term Hire vehicles (where the insurance treatment and hire period requires them to be logged on the database - ie over 14 days on hire).  It will also be possible for clients, or for any of their other vehicle suppliers, to contribute vehicle data from other sources, although this will attract a small additional charge per source for set up and maintenance.  When a new vehicle is supplied, it will be added to the database.  Similarly when a vehicle is returned, it will be removed.
